Renton has a wonderful setting with the Cedar River running through it. Renton City is one of the only cities in the Seattle area that has it's own library system.The library also spans the river. You can stand at the front door of the library and look into the river to see salmon spawning. Renton library is an independent system. Living in King County you can also become a patron to the larger King County Library System. Also located near the library complex is a park and a wonderful riverwalk that will take you past the Renton Boeing plant where the planes can cross the river on their very own bridge. Kent is located approximately three miles south of Renton. If you follow Highway 167, the freeway system runs from Renton all the way down the Kent Valley past Auburn. Auburn is a lovely community nestled between the hills flanking the Cascades. There are many recreational opportunities in Auburn plus a comfortable small town feel. Auburn is a short distance south of Kent. Auburn has a convenient small airport located close to the city, and is also the home of Emerald Downs a new horse racing facility for Western Washington. Federal Way is a burgeoning city along the Puget Sound just south of SeaTac. The city covers a wide area with plenty of shopping. Residential areas are diverse and inviting, rolling down to the waters of the Sound. Weyerhauser has a lovely park and garden which is situated on the grounds of their world headquarters. Visit the Bonsai and Rhododendron gardens where many gardening events take place. If you are looking for a thrill, try Enchanted Village and Wild Waves, located on the I-5 corridor. Federal Way also hosted the Goodwill Games in their brand new Aquatic Center which is a state of the art olympic sized pool..
